Background to establishment of ICEU

In June 2021 US Department of Defense and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a report essentially acknowledging the existence of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs).

This unprecedented turn of events has granted the much needed legitimacy to the subject of UFOs thereby paving the way for mainstream scientists to look at the UFO phenomena without fearing any backlash from academia as well as the wider peer-reviewed scientific research community.

ICEU will be supervised by Head Scientist of Indian Astrobiology Research Foundation, Pushkar Ganesh Vaidya.

Astrobiology and UFOs

It is important to note that there is “Nothing Unscientific about UFOs” – the very term, Unidentified Flying Objects demands “identification” of the object if deemed necessary. Further, the UFO phenomena (because they might be Alien!) are very much a part of astrobiology.

Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution and distribution of life in the universe including the search for intelligent extraterrestrial life. Astrobiology deals with three fundamental questions,

To understand the origin of life and its evolution.
To probe for extraterrestrial life, especially intelligent life.
To understand the future of life on Earth and extraterrestrial life

IARF Centre of Excellence for UFOs (ICEU)
established on July 02 2021

In light of the unprecedented developments in recent past, Indian Astrobiology Research Foundation (IARF) has announced the set-up of IARF Centre of Excellence for UFOs (ICEU).

ICEU aims to;

1. Create a searchable database of UFO reports in Indian media
2. Conduct primary surveys and primary research in the field of UFOs and related
3. Involve the public in UFO discussions from within the scientific method framework
