Overview of IARF

IARF Summary 2024-25

We connect you with Life in Space

Indian Astrobiology Research Foundation (IARF) (est 2007 as IARC) conducts and encourages research in space sciences, in particular, astrobiology. The research goals of IARF are aligned with those determined by NASA in the Astrobiology Strategy.

Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution and distribution of life in the universe. It also refers to the search for any kind of life elsewhere, as well as the search for the elusive ET.

Astrobiology deals with three fundamental questions, see below

To understand the origin of life and its evolution.
To probe for extraterrestrial life, especially intelligent life.
To understand the future of life on Earth and extraterrestrial life

Astrobiology is the most exciting field of our generation. It cuts across various academic disciplines and industry sectors and importantly it possesses the power to inspire one-and-all to ask fundamental questions about our universe and our existence.

IARF–ICSC runs a robust education and outreach program through its Centres of Excellence, with a strong focus on Space and Climate Sciences, aligned with the UN Global Goals.
